The archaic Greek poets Homer and Hesiod explain dead heroes as hemitheoi, i.e., “fifty percent gods”. This did not imply which they had a person guardian who was divine and a person who was mortal. It was not merely the children on the gods who grew to become demi-gods. The gods’ fans like Ganymede and Psyche were being also made immortal.
